Who? City of Avignon What? The Luminessences d’Avignon is returning to the city once again for its annual installation celebrating the papal heritage of the region. The venue is the largest gothic palace in the Europe and was built in only twenty years under the reign of two Popes. As one of the two Papal seats, the palace was home to seven Popes and two schismatic Popes. For the duration of the installation, the historic Honour Courtyard at The Palace of the Popes will be transformed intothe canvas for a stunning sound and light show. The Royal Academy has held its Summer Exhibition since 1769. Owing to the open nature of the exhibitions, it’s generally regarded as a snapshot of art of the time as well as being a chance to see the avant-garde of the art world. Certainly, the exhibition has a substantial number of new and young artists displaying their work. In its seminal year, 136 different pieces were on show. These days, the number is closer to 1,000. Who? London Design Museum What? The latest exhibition to arrive at the London Design museum is one centred around the work of Louis Kahn. Featuring a diverse display of Kahn’s models, sketches, photos and original drawing, the exhibition gives an insight to why Kahn is considered a master of twentieth century architecture.
