Discreet service at Le Vendôme, Beirut

Discreet service at Le Vendôme, Beirut

Who? Le Vendôme What? Intimate is the approach to service at Le Vendôme. Fresh faced from some serious renovations, the hotel is at its prime. Of course you wouldn’t be able to find many people who have stayed there – they are far too discreet to share that sort of thing. But if the stylish suites are anything to go by, it’ll only be the elite. When? Open year round Where? Rafis Al Hariri St, Beirut, Lebanon How? Regency Tunis, a Tunisian coastal oasis

Who? Regency Tunis What? Just a short drive up the coast from Tunisia’s iconic Sidi Bou Said district is another sea-side gem, the Regency Tunis. While incorporating little touches of Tunisian culture, local designs can be found in much of the décor, it’s not short on luxury either as the three grand pools and spa facilities prove. Oh, and there’s an endearing Tunisian restaurant too where you can sample the local fare. When? Open year round Where? Les cotes de Carthage, La Marsa, Tunis, Tunisia How? Classic luxury at The Portman Ritz Carlton, Shanghai

Who? The Portman Ritz Carlton, Shanghai What? The Portman Ritz Carlton in Shanghai has been an instant classic since the day it opened decades ago. Situated in the heart of Puxi, it’s ideally located for visiting many of Shanghai’s best known tourist sites. Of course, it wouldn’t be Ritz Carlton without being sumptuously luxurious inside, which of course it is. But while it’s a bit of a legend in the city, and it continues to collect accolades in the likes of Condé Nast Traveler’s Best Of lists, it’s open to innovation too. Cue, their recently launched Most Handsome Brunch in town. Another instant classic, we think. When? Open year round…

Life in Luxury’s guide to: Dennis Hopper at the Royal Academy

Soon to arrive at the Royal Academy is the installation entitled “The Lost Album”, an exhibition of over four hundred original photographs taken by the late Dennis Hopper. This is the first time such a large collection of Hopper’s work has been shown in the UK. In addition to the photographs will be a selection of vintage prints which were discovered after Hopper’s death in 2010.
