Life in Luxury’s guide to: Johnnie Walker Gold Route

Gold Route
The Gold Route is the second release from the Johnnie Walker Explorers’ Club Collection, available only in Duty Free.

The collection, made up of three whiskies, is a celebration of the spirit of exploration which characterised The British Empire. From far flung corners of the world, explorers convened in Alexander Walker’s Travellers’ Room in London to compare and share their discoveries.

Following on from The Spice Road, The Gold Route is inspired by the magnificent and diverse scenery of Latin America. This breathtaking blend offers a bouquet that’s reminiscent of majestic Inca pyramids and vibrant exotic delicacies.

The rich mix of sweet fruits and savoury smokiness in its flavour profile gives this whisky great balance. The luxuriously intense golden colour comes from ageing in old American oak casks while the inviting nectar is complemented by a heady nose of banana, mango and pitaya as a subtle hint of vanilla adds sweetness in perfect measure.

The body of the whisky is defined by the tantalising flavours of pineapple, guava, passionfruit and raisins. A smoky finish lingers, preparing the palate for the next sip.

This salute to the Americas is a great addition to the Johnnie Walker repertoire.
